It goes without saying that after our first event, eager minds will want to discuss topics they learned about, or other ideas they may want to interject into the discussion. We welcome it here.
In addition, the response to the premise of the cleantech series has been overwhelming, and we want to generate ideas about what topics people want to discuss in future events. Consider this your encouragement to speak freely and express ideas about all things clean and green. We are listening!
To get your motors runnin', chew on this for a moment...below is a chart of global exergy flux, reservoirs, and destruction. Essentially, this attempts to show all of the original sources of energy coming into our planet, and describe where all of the energy is used or stored. It takes a moment to grasp all of the information on here, but pay special attention to the tiny amount of energy that is actually stored in the process of photosynthesis and its subsequent burial of fossil fuels. It's a staggeringly small amount of energy when compared to the influx of solar energy, and it provides unsubtle hints as to the vastness of Earth's untapped resources. This link will take you to Stanford's Global Climate and Energy Project from where the PDF version of the chart was sourced.
