Welcome!

Welcome to the Bay Area Badgers Cleantech Discussion Forum.  We intend to use this tool as a forum where members can post comments and ideas about our continuing education series.

It goes without saying that after our first event, eager minds will want to discuss topics they learned about, or other ideas they may want to interject into the discussion.  We welcome it here.

In addition, the response to the premise of the cleantech series has been overwhelming, and we want to generate ideas about what topics people want to discuss in future events.  Consider this your encouragement to speak freely and express ideas about all things clean and green.  We are listening!

To get your motors runnin', chew on this for a moment...below is a chart of global exergy flux, reservoirs, and destruction.  Essentially, this attempts to show all of the original sources of energy coming into our planet, and describe where all of the energy is used or stored.  It takes a moment to grasp all of the information on here, but pay special attention to the tiny amount of energy that is actually stored in the process of photosynthesis and its subsequent burial of fossil fuels.  It's a staggeringly small amount of energy when compared to the influx of solar energy, and it provides unsubtle hints as to the vastness of Earth's untapped resources.  This link will take you to Stanford's Global Climate and Energy Project from where the PDF version of the chart was sourced.

  1. Bay Area Badgers -

This is a great idea and a great initiative for our club. Continuing education is a key aspect of alumni clubs, and CleanTech is increasingly more important to our lives and our economy. I look forward to the Solar event in a few weeks.

  2. We kicked off the Cleantech Education series last night with a fantastic Solar Symposium. The panel of speakers were truly top professionals in their respective fields, providing the audience a great forum for interactive participation and learning. Anyone who was in attendance can attest, this was a perfect start to BAB's commitment to providing our local alum some hands on exposure to a huge growth sector.
I'm very excited about whats to come - please share thoughts and comments!
